The Department of Education continues to pursue its key basic education programs even as the groundwork for the eventual roll out of the enhanced curriculum under the K+12 program is underway.

Calamities, Crisis, Catastrophes, what shall we do?

How do you perceive the calamities and crisis that are happening today - the earthquakes, wars, economic crisis, extraordinary calamities, and other natural disasters? Do our government has the solution for these? Or do those countries with high and advance technology can give solution? Or can the prayer of Christians and other religious organizations can stop the situation?

Let me give this data:

"Do's and Don'ts of a Great Boss"

If you were to describe the best boss you've ever had, how would you describe them? Tough but fair? Caring and a good listener? Competent and trusting? There are so many possibilities, and one of the most difficult things about being a great boss is that everyone would like something just a little different.

Some employees like their boss for reasons far removed from the actual function of an employer. "He lets me leave early every Tuesday so I can take my kid to soccer practice." Or, "She paid for my trip to New York." Generous, yes, but these kinds of things generally fall more under the category of a "nice person" and not necessarily a "good boss."

I know the word boss meets with different opinions. In the 90's "boss" was out and "team leader" was in. Every 5-10 years there is a new preference. I'm not sure what is "in" right now. My twenty-something friends say it doesn't really matter, just keep it short and simple – so "boss" it is at least for this edition of the Pastor's Coach. This article is in many ways a declaration that it doesn't matter what word you use, from supervisor to manager, there are good leaders and bad ones – and a few in between who are just average. If you are responsible for one employee, dozens, or hundreds I'm sure you want to be a great boss.

Leaders Cannot Afford to Neglect Planning

"Good planning always costs less than good reacting."
~ Wayne Schmidt

In October 2010 the most expensive public works project in America, ARC, officially met its demise. The project would have constructed two tunnels beneath the Hudson River to add much-needed railways between New Jersey and Manhattan. However, poor planning led to wasteful spending and put the project on pace to exceed its budget by at least $1 billion.

A federal audit of the project brought to light an embarrassing lack of planning. The audit charged NJ Transit with failing to draw up plans to combat fraud and waste in its financial practices. The same audit chastised the FTA for authorizing NJ Transit to spend $1.35 billion without having seen a project management plan, master schedule, or financial plan from the agency. On account of ARC's runaway costs and inadequate strategic plans, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie decided to cancel the project.

Review About Steve Iser And His New Commission Crusher Program

Lately there’s been a lot of talk about this new program that’s been coming in my email inbox and being wildly talked about online right now.

But you see, I got a sneak peak into what Commission Crusher is all about – and wanted to give you my review on it.

So… what is Commission Crusher exactly?

The Value of the Light and the Cross

This Year 2011, we will make things right. We have many failures to God in the past days, past months, years, but starting today, we will change our lives and do what is right before God.

God is expecting us to perform for Him. God has called us to work for Him. God has chosen us to work in and for his Holy kingdom and for Him as our Holy God. But just imagine a person full of dirt working in a kingdom that is full of gold and diamonds. Imagine a dirty person working in a very high class restaurant. What will be your reaction? (Illustrations, like a food business did not pass the sanitary inspection)

What will be your reaction if a person full of dirt because of sin works in the kingdom of God and works for the Holy God? God will not tolerate it. But that’s the condition of man because of his sin. That is the same condition where we came from. In spite of that, still, God wants us to be with Him to be included in His family; and God wants us to be an instrument to tell the all people that He wants us all to be included in His family lists.

Do's and Dont's of a Great Employee

What side of the desk do you sit on? The majority of vocational church leaders will never experience both sides. In fact, it is likely that you are either a Senior Pastor or employed by one. My vantage point is somewhat unique. I've never planted a church or been a Senior Pastor. I've always been a pastor employed by someone. And yet, serving as an Executive Pastor for over twenty years, and currently responsible for about 85 staff, offers me a unique view -- a view from both sides of the desk.

Over these years I've worked with hundreds of staff. Some in the churches I've served and many in churches I've consulted. With some risk of oversimplifying, I'm going to offer a list of do's and don'ts for great employees. This may help you as an employee or help you train the employees you are responsible for.

I had some fun with this article. I posted this question on Facebook and received a number of great responses. Most were right in tune with my experience! The do's and don'ts I'm offering are not comprehensive, there are many more than I will list here. You can add your favorites to these if you like.

Reading the Trends of Change

On February 16th, news outlets reported that Borders bookstores had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The bookseller chain planned to shutter 30% of its stores, or 200 locations, nationwide. Analysts are skeptical whether the slimmed-down Borders will even be able to survive. There’s a real possibility for the bookstore to go the way of Circuit City and Linens ‘n Things, chains which no longer operate physical retail locations.

Changes Worth Making

Comfort lulls us into complacency. We get accustomed to routine or familiar with a role, so we settle in. As leaders, we must relentlessly challenge ourselves not to let ease and security dissuade us from making the changes necessary to fulfill our vision.
